Session of the Civic Chamber concerning the case of V.Kononov at the ЕCHR

A session of the Civic Chamber of Russia has taken place. Members of the Civic Chamber, human rights activists, lawyers, academics, historians gathered to discuss the ECHR decision with regard to the Russian Second World War veteran Vasiliy Kononov.

Westside Advisors’ Managing Partner Sergey Vodolagin took part in discussions as an invited expert. A number of issues were discussed including the possibility of defending nationals abroad within and outside of the CIS.

At the meeting the recent decision of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in Latvia’s refusal of compensation to v. Kononov for infringement of human rights and convicting him of war crimes was discussed.
