The 3rd Annual Conference «Luxembourg – a hub for Russian private equity and real estate investments»

The 3rd Annual Conference «Luxembourg – a hub for Russian private equity and real estate investments» was held in Moscow. The Conference was hosted by the international company United Trust and the law firm Loyens & Loeff.

There were two main topics of the Conference: «The attractiveness of Luxembourg for investments» and «The Protocol on amending the Agreement between Russian Federation and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion with respect to income taxes and corporate property tax».

More specifically the Protocol introduces: the reduction in the minimum rate of withholding tax on dividends to 5%; a new procedure for the exchange of information; limitations of benefits in case of tax optimization; changes in taxation of income derived from sale of shares by a resident of one country in the company — a resident of another country.
